Welcome to the 2019-20 School Year!

I am so glad you chose to be a part of our school community. It will be a great year of learning, growing, and having fun! I look forward to partnering with you for another year of unwavering excellence at Waverly Belmont Elementary School!

This is year five, and Waverly Belmont is ready to soar. During our infant years, Waverly Belmont Elementary grew, improved, matured, learned from mistakes, and found identity. We strengthened our knowledge around instruction, social-emotional learning, pedagogy, and curriculum; and, we continue to be committed to the Social, Emotional, and Academic growth of EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY!

As part of this commitment, our leadership team recently refined and enhanced our academic core belief statements to better align with our evolving mission and vision for the school.

At Waverly Belmont Elementary School, the faculty/staff believe that EVERY STUDENT deserves the following, EVERY DAY!

  • A morning smile and greeting from his/her teacher…a fresh start!

  • High-quality, rigorous instruction provided by content knowledgeable teachers

  • Grade-appropriate assignments and interaction with complex texts

  • Opportunities to do the “heavy lifting,” student talk should exceed teacher talk

  • Expectations for participation and high levels of engagement during learning

  • Task demands that require critical thinking and productive struggle

  • Ownership of his/her learning…voice and choice

  • Opportunities to practice reading, writing, listening, speaking, and math fluency

Our focus for the 2019-20 school year is to put these beliefs into practice. Our administration and instructional coaches will walk side-by-side with our teachers while engaging in this work. Your children deserve the very best, and we are committed to continue our learning and provide this experience for them. Let’s get to work!
