Welcome to the 2018-19 School Year!

It's going to be another great year, and I can't wait to see what we can accomplish together!

We've worked hard to lay a solid foundation at Waverly Belmont over the last three years, and this year is to be a continuation of the work.  During my time with WB, we've implemented a strong focus on Social Emotional Learning through morning meetings, calm down corners, Move This World, and more. Our faculty has grown together in our understanding of effective literacy planning and instruction, and last year, we really focused on expanding our differentiation of Math through the use of Math Tasks and Math Talks. We've all grown so much together!

During the 2018-19 school year, I want us to continue to strengthen these areas.  We don't want to do more, we want to do less...better!  We're going to accomplish this by really looking at things through the eyes of our students.  I've challenged the faculty with the following questions:

  • Are we really doing what we're committed to do?

  • Are we growing EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY?

  • How do we know?

  • Where's the evidence?

Our plan for 2018-19 is to engage in every aspect of our work by asking ourselves, "What's the student evidence?"

As our community partners together for another year of serving our children, I invite us all to really focus on empowering our students. How can we release our students to show ownership in their learning?  Where's the evidence?

Let's work together to provide our school community with another year of unwavering excellence!
