Welcome From the Principal
Welcome to the online home of the Robert E. Lillard Elementary Design Center. We’re named after one of Nashville’s first African-American judges, and every day we strive to follow in his footsteps of community service, hard work and perseverance. We encourage curiosity and respect, and we reward good behavior and kindness.
Robert E. Lillard Elementary is a great school with a rich history, and I look forward to helping you get the most out of your time here. Take a look around to learn more—or better yet, come for a visit. I think you’ll like what you find.

Robert E. Lillard Elementary Design Center was named after one of Nashville’s first African-American judges. He worked hard to achieve great results, and the faculty, staff and students at Robert E. Lillard Elementary do the same every day.
Our motto is, “Every day is a learning day at Robert E. Lillard Elementary.” As a Design Center, our goal is to ensure that our students become lifelong learners and have the opportunity to succeed. To do that, we have created a safe place for students to learn and grow. We offer high-quality instruction and after-school tutoring.
We also set high expectations for our students, our staff and our parents. Our faculty is very family-oriented, and we have a coordinator who works with our parents to encourage a higher level of parental support.
In addition, we know that education is not one-size-fits-all. That’s why we recognize a variety of learning styles, and encourage using them to create a unique learning experience.
