Welcome From the Principal
Hello and welcome to Jere Baxter Middle School! We’re a learning community that thrives on respect, honesty and encouragement. In order to be successful, our children need support from home, community and school. We work to foster strong partnerships with all of our parents—and as your partner, we share the responsibility for your children’s success.
Our hard-working faculty is dedicated to helping your student grow, and will happily work with you to ensure he or she leaves prepared for high school and beyond. We will always do our best to support families, too: We offer many classes for parents including career readiness, family engagement opportunities, clothing and food assistance, computer access and more.
Join us and see how your family can go far with Jere Baxter!
The mission of Jere Baxter Middle School is to provide a caring, collaborative and challenging environment that empowers, engages
and enlightens all students to reach their full potential. Because we are a Community Achieves school, we work to reinforce and maintain the link between parents, our community and our school in order to foster student success.
Our academic programs include daily, 70-minute blocks for literature, math, science and social studies, each taught through blended learning. Blended learning combines traditional classroom instruction with digital instruction and online coursework that can sometimes be done after school hours and on a student’s own schedule. Every day, students also participate in a 70-minute period for related arts, which rotates between classes such as Spanish, physical education, technology, art and band. Encore is a program that supports our gifted students, ensuring they are challenged as they learn. Our students may also earn high-school credits through our Advanced Placement classes. We also offer tutoring services to help support our students' academic progress.
With an extended school day, Jere Baxter offers innovative programs that expand learning time. We offer extended social emotional learning sessions (ExSEL) with topics that nurture the whole child. We are a restorative school and use restorative practices for discipline, meaning we work to discuss the issue and develop an understanding among students in cases of non-violent disruptions and conflict.

Jere Baxter Middle School is one of our STEAM middle schools. At Jere Baxter students use STEAM, science technology, engineering, arts and math as access points to the 4Cs (critical thinking, communication, creativity and collaboration).
