Welcome From Our Principal

Principal

Hello! I grew up in central California where I played basketball and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Social Work from Fresno Pacific University. I later returned to school to earn my teaching credential and EL endorsement, using those credentials to teach high school. I moved to Georgia and began working in the early learning field and realized how much I loved working with Pre-K through third grade. I earned a Master’s degree in Cross-Cultural teaching, an Early Childhood Director’s Permit and Administrative Credentials. I am now earning my doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership.

I also directed programming and implemented instructional best practices at the elementary level for 16 years. I had the privilege of opening Ivanetta H. Davis Early Learning Center, in 2014. In 2015, I moved to the position of Director of Early Learning Innovation within MNPS, where I worked collaboratively to build the district’s four model Early Learning Centers and implement the Federal Pre-K Expansion and Development grant.

I am grateful to be back at Ivanetta H. Davis Early Learning Center. Our staff represents a strong team and our school provides a positive climate and culture that welcomes all families. We are focused on the whole child through meaningful and engaging play based learning, where all students and staff can find joy in learning and growing together. Please come visit us and join our team as we work collaboratively to ensure all students leave Davis ELC with the knowledge and skills that will make them successful in Kindergarten and in life!

School Description

Ivanetta H. Davis Early Learning Center is a child- and family-centered public preschool. Our program educates the whole child while focusing on important skills and development such as literacy, early math and social and emotional learning.

The year prior to kindergarten is an important first step in a child’s experience with peers, making friends and interacting with adults other than immediate family members. At the Ivanetta H. Davis Early Learning Center, children’s growth and development are supported through the studies of the Creative Curriculum, and families are encouraged to support their children by participating in classroom and school experiences throughout the year.

Our hope is to learn about each child and family enrolled in our school and offer the best first step as each child begins the transition into kindergarten. Please feel free to visit and play with us often. Early learning lasts a lifetime!
