Welcome From the Principal

Jessica Hardin Principal

Jessica Hardin
Principal

Welcome to Inglewood Elementary an Environmental Sciences STEAM Magnet located in the heart of East Nashville since 1929.  Inglewood is a community school as well as an optional magnet school dedicated to partnering with our families and neighbors to support all students. The staff is passionate about fostering an inclusive community where differences are celebrated, and individuals respected for their contributions. We are committed to providing the best possible educational experience for your child by addressing both social emotional learning and academics.

We are an Environmental Sciences STEAM Magnet, integrating our theme of environmental sciences through a cross-curricular approach to instruction that is driven by school wide collaboration. Students experience Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math through student-centered STEAM Challenges. We invite you to attend one of our student led Showcases. On your visit check out our STEAM Lab, Fuse Studio, Flexible Classrooms, and while at the playground be sure to ask about how coding will make play an interactive STEAM experience.

At Inglewood we believe strong social emotional skills are integral to student success. We employ a positive approach to discipline and rely on restorative practices to help students navigate peer and staff relationships. Using these practices students learn to think though their problems and consider all outcomes before arriving at a solution.

As an educator and East Nashville resident it has long been a dream to work in the community that I call home. It is an honor and privilege to be the principal of Inglewood Elementary. I warmly invite you to visit and see why I love working with the students, families, staff, community, and school partners as we continue to grow our students and our Inglewood pride.

School Description

The mission of Inglewood Elementary School is to build a community of lifelong learners equipped with the skills and experiences to be successful in life.

We are dedicated to achieving the mission and vision of our school through high-quality academic instruction as well as social emotional support for all students. We are focused on increasing student engagement through STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education. We are also dedicated to meeting every child’s social and emotional needs with group and individual counseling through our school, STARS and Centerstone counselors. Our full-time Advanced Academics Resource Teacher (AART) helps meet the unique needs of our gifted and talented students, providing students with a stronger advanced academic continuum throughout their education.

Inglewood Elementary engages students through critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication in a warm, demanding environment. The school’s unique approach to learning ensures every student experiences integrated instruction specializing in the Environmental Sciences. Quarterly STEAM Challenges provide students with the opportunity to design potential solutions to real world environmental issues through literacy, math, science and social studies. Solutions are developed utilizing the Engineering Design Process and abundant technology. The school partners with scientists from Vanderbilt University, the American Alliance for Innovative Systems, and various community experts to provide learning experiences in the classroom, in the STEAM Lab, and in the field. STEAM is further enhanced through enrichment opportunities including a musical band, art studio, onstage performances, creative after-school care, Maker Space and STEAM enrichment clubs.
