Welcome From the Principal
Welcome to East Nashville Magnet High School! Thank you for visiting our site and we hope that the information you discover here will tell our amazing story. We are committed to exceeding expectations by providing our community with a school that produces students who embody the principles of hard work, open-mindedness, respect, responsibility, and kindness to others.
I am honored to assume the role of Executive Principal of East Nashville Magnet High School. As an East Nashville native and former East Nashville student, my passion for this school runs deep. It is that passion that will drive my dedication to propel East forward. Our goal is make East Nashville Magnet High School the premier choice on the East side and beyond. Our students are challenged daily by a curriculum consisting of Honors and Advanced Placement courses, and programs that enrich their lives, and nurture their social and emotional well-being.
You play a major role in our success, so we encourage you to connect with us. As a community partner, find out how you can help enrich the lives of our students. As a community member, find out how you can invest in the success of our students. As a parent, join the PTSO, check the Parent Portal regularly, and stay in communication with your child’s teachers. As a student, buy into the program. We are Team East! If you buy into the W.O.R.K Principles (Hard Work, Open-Minded and Optimistic, Respectful and Responsible, and Kindness) you will flourish. Success happens on purpose. A team is successful as a result of the intentional acts of the people on the team. That is the Team East philosophy. So, get ready to soar Eagles! The Mighty Eagle Nation is ready for takeoff!
As the only Paideia high school in Nashville, East Nashville Magnet High School is proud to offer students a strong college-prep, liberal arts education.
Through Paideia seminars, students from all over the district learn to speak, listen and write within all subject areas. All 9th grade students take a course called Freshman Seminar to enhance their successful transition to high school. Additionally, all students enroll in an advisory class led by an adult advocate to help them with grades, attendance and behavior all through the school year.
We offer an arts program, a multitude of Advanced Placement classes, smaller class sizes and blending learning opportunities throughout the school. We also rely on parents, whom we consider to be part of our team, to provide students with the best possible high school experience.
East Nashville Magnet takes attendance and tardiness seriously. We boast an average attendance rate of 98 percent, which is one of the highest in all of Nashville. Students who accumulate four or more tardies to class within a week are assigned to Saturday School, and students with poor attendance are recommended for revocation at the end of the year and lose their ability to attend East Nashville Magnet.

A Typical Day at School
Students take eight classes and see each of their teachers three times a week.
On Mondays, students go to all eight classes for 47 minutes.
The rest of the week, students are on an "A" (Blocks 1-4 only) or "B" (Blocks 5-8 only) schedule for approximately 80 minutes per block. Students go to their advisory period for 30 minutes on "A" and "B" days.
Each month students participate in a school-wide Paideia seminar with their advisory teachers. Students complete a writing task after each seminar to enhance their writing skills.
