Dr. Jeremy Lewis

Welcome to Croft Design Center School! My name is Dr. Jeremy Lewis, and I am the proud principal of one of Nashville’s most unique middle schools. Through an enhanced partnership with the Nashville Zoo and Vanderbilt, we offer our students unparalleled, hands-on learning experiences in zookeeping, zoology and other sciences. And that’s just the beginning of what we offer students.

Our mission is to set high academic expectations, meet students’ social and emotional needs, embrace diversity and collaborate authentically. We’re also committed to keeping families informed, partnering with them in their student’s education, and organizing events that connect the community to our wonderful school.

School Description

Located on the property of the Nashville Zoo, Croft Design Center School is a unique middle school dedicated to global environmental awareness and developing the talents of our future leaders. Croft is the home of four exotic animals exhibits, supplied by the Nashville Zoo and cared for by the Croft zookeeper students and faculty.

Croft School is committed to providing a wide range of challenging learning experiences. In addition to its unique location and hands-on learning opportunities with the zoo, Croft School is a member of the esteemed Cambridge International academic community. With Cambridge, our students have access to challenging curriculum that builds 21st-century skills to sustain lifelong learning. Through the Cambridge program, students can also earn high-school credits. We offer Spanish instruction for all grades, including an 8th-grade course for high-school credit. The Encore program helps challenge and support our gifted and talented students, while technology integration helps support interactive, blended learning throughout the school.

Additionally, through a partnership with Vanderbilt University, there’s a resident scientist assigned to every classroom. Through intentional teacher collaboration with our resident scientists, lessons are geared towards engaging students in project-based learning experiences such as cultivating a school garden and butterfly garden, just to name a few.

At Croft School, students have access to a variety of athletics and creative arts. Our music program has a reputation for excellence, as exhibited by its many achievements and accolades.
