Welcome From the Principal
Welcome to Cane Ridge Elementary. We are the OWLS: Outstanding, Wonderful Learners and Staff! Through our curriculum, extracurricular activities and passion for teaching and learning, we strive to exceed the needs of all of our students.
At Cane Ridge Elementary, we focus on a whole-child approach. We want our students to grow mentally, physically and emotionally while they’re here. Our parents love that we do everything possible to ensure that their children grow, enjoy learning and feel safe at Cane Ridge. Look around our site or come in for a visit. We’re confident you’ll love it, too.
To serve the growing needs of Southeastern Davidson County, Cane Ridge Elementary opened in 2012. Today it serves more than 1,000 students in kindergarten through fourth grade, making it the largest elementary school in the whole district. As a LEED silver-certified school, we also are one of the greenest schools in the district.
Our school is reflective of Antioch and its diverse population. At Cane Ridge, our students represent a variety of cultures and backgrounds, and we proudly celebrate them all. At our annual International Fair, students and their families dress up in cultural attire, bring home-cooked foods to sample and share other customs from their culture.
We strive every day to achieve the very best for our students and their families. A school-wide behavior plan guides each of us through our days, while unique programs keep our students engaged. A few of our favorites are the community garden, piano and keyboard lab, rock-climbing wall in PE and the Encore program for gifted learners.
We may be the largest elementary school, but we still feel like a family. We work hard to have open communication with our families, and we regularly host parent workshops and family-centered events.
After considering many options to address a lack of space at Antioch Middle School for fall 2018, Metro Schools will implement a temporary change at Cane Ridge Elementary that will allow Cane Ridge students who will be entering the 5th grade in the fall of 2018, and who live in the Cane Ridge Elementary school zone, to remain at Cane Ridge Elementary for 5th grade.
This change will affect approximately 60 students. Current CRES fourth-grade students who live in the new Eagle View zone will attend 5th grade at Antioch Middle next fall as planned. This short-term fix is expected to last for the next three to four school years. The long-term solution is to request funding for a new middle school in the Cane Ridge Cluster.
Please plan to attend an informational meeting March 22 at 6:30 p.m. to hear more about the plans and answer questions. The location is the Southeast Nashville Community Center (5260 Hickory Hollow Parkway, Suite 202).
