Welcome From the Principal

Dr. Celia Conley

Greetings Families and welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I am excited to serve my 5th year, alongside the great faculty, staff, and students of Antioch Middle.  I am so proud of the hard work from our students and staff over the years, and we have met many of the goals from our ambitious 5 year plan- “Bears 2020.”   We are pleased to offer a rigorous curriculum, including honors Math and ELA, HS Integrated Math, and HS Physical Science.  AVID and Gear Up provide additional supports to ensure our students will be ready for high-school, and are on a path to post-secondary success.  Coding, STEM, Band, Chorus, Art, PE, & AVID electives help our scholars receive a well-rounded education.

We are a Community Achieves school, and thus partner with local businesses, volunteers, churches, non-profit organizations and colleges to provide wrap-around services and supports to our families.  Antioch offers extra-curricular clubs and sports, and is home to the district boys soccer champions!  This year, we are pleased to launch and extended advisory, with bi-weekly SEL support, including our new “Houses” structure.  I look forward to meeting you at one of our family nights, PTO meeting, or athletic events.  If you need any additional information, please do not hesitate to give us a call.  #Bears2020

School Description

Antioch Middle School is a diverse school that invokes a sense of family and pride with our students and staff. We utilize a team-based approach when developing interventions and resolving student issues.  Students are placed on two-teacher teams for 5th and 6th grade, for a small-community feel.

We are pleased to offer our students enriching experiences that they would not find elsewhere, such as biweekly clubs, Restorative Peer Court, 2:1 technology devices, STEAM programming, AVID college success system, and Honors Reading courses.  Our renovated campus includes two gyms, tennis courts, and a football stadium.

We are a Community Achieves school, and have a dedicated site team member that coordinates supports and events for family and community members.  We are developing a PTO and Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students), and welcome you to join us!  We are a school on the move!

After considering many options to address a lack of space at Antioch Middle School for fall 2018, Metro Schools will implement a temporary change at Cane Ridge Elementary that will allow Cane Ridge students who will be entering the 5th grade in the fall of 2018, and who live in the Cane Ridge Elementary school zone, to remain at Cane Ridge Elementary for 5th grade.

This change will affect approximately 60 students.  Current CRES fourth-grade students who live in the new Eagle View zone will attend 5th grade at Antioch Middle next fall as planned. This short-term fix is expected to last for the next three to four school years.  The long-term solution is to request funding for a new middle school in the Cane Ridge Cluster.

Please plan to attend an informational meeting March 22 at 6:30 p.m. to hear more about the plans and answer questions. The location is the Southeast Nashville Community Center (5260 Hickory Hollow Parkway, Suite 202).
