Welcome From the Principal

  Latoya Cobb Principal

Latoya Cobb

Welcome to Amqui Elementary School’s webpage. I am excited to be the principal of Amqui and I look forward to serving our students and working with the Madison community.

I have nineteen years of public education experience. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th grades.  I was a school counselor for nine years serving schools in Louisville and MNPS.  All of my administrative experience has been with MNPS. I was an assistant principal at Paragon Mills Elementary for four years and I recently completed my tenure as principal of Kirkpatrick Enhanced Option School.

As the principal, my mission is to create a culture of learning where students and staff are appreciated and respected. I will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to develop systems and structures to increase student achievement. I will do whatever it takes to ensure that students of Amqui Elementary exceed great expectations!

I welcome our parents to become partners in creating a stellar education for every child that attends Amqui. I personally invite you to read on, learn more about where we’re going and reach out with questions. I look forward to seeing you soon!

School Description

Diverse, vibrant, energetic, creative: These are just a few words that could describe the typical student at Amqui Elementary. Tucked back in the hills of Madison, Amqui puts individualized learning at the center of everything we do. Here, students receive small-group instruction throughout the day to ensure they master key skills and state standards.

Amqui Tigers utilize technology and participate in hands-on activities to help make them college- and career-ready. In related arts, students rotate through physical education, art and music in order to help develop well-rounded citizens. Unique to Amqui, our related arts rotation also include a writing lab.

Not only do we educate the child, but we also focus on developing them socially and emotionally. Our school is also proud of its open-door policy: We value parental involvement and want to encourage our parents to volunteer.
