Welcome From the Principal

Dr. Sharada Deaton
Principal

Welcome to Wright Middle Prep where we are committed to exceeding great expectations at every turn! I am excited and honored to join this wonderful community as the Executive Principal. Our greatest strength is our diversity, with over 26 languages spoken within the building! It is our commitment to embrace this diversity and work together with our school community to increase the academic achievement of all students.

My vision is for Wright Middle Prep to become the best and top-performing middle school in the district. However, this task cannot be accomplished by the hard work of the staff and faculty alone. We need our parents as partners to drive momentum by being deeply involved in your child’s education. I highly encourage you to attend our parent and community events throughout the year and provide your continuous input, while ensuring that your children attend school every day and complete all their work on time. Together we will propel our students towards greatness, preparing them to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and productive citizens in a global society.

Please visit us to learn about all the wonderful things that are happening at our school throughout the year, or just to say hello!

We are Wright and Ready!

Pathways

School Description

Wright Middle Prep is a highly diverse school that works diligently to support all of our students and their families. We offer Parents as Partners for parents and families new to the United States. We also frequently have Family Night to inform families about academic programs, state testing and other student information. WATCH D.O.G.S® (Dads of Great Students) is an innovative program for father involvement and a volunteer educational initiative with the goals of providing positive male role models for students and providing extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

Our school days begin with breakfast in the classroom. Throughout the day, students experience blended learning in Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science and Related Arts classes. Advanced academics include Encore, a program that supports our gifted students, Integrated Math and German I. Within German I, students learn both the language and about German culture. Passing students will earn two high-school credits in foreign language and can take German II as high-school freshmen.

Extracurricular activities help keep our students engaged and active. A few favorites are our Garden Club, Book Club, Art, Band, Drama, Photography, Yearbook and our Foreign Language Clubs. Sports are another way students can stay connected after school and expand their personal growth. Our students can choose from six TSSAA sports, including football, cheerleading/dance and soccer.

NAZA (Nashville After Zone Alliance) and 21st Century Tutoring are two of our after-school programs that our students love to attend—more than 100 of our students attend these programs regularly. These act as an expanded learning system, providing both academic support and new creative outlets for students.
