Welcome to Our School
Welcome to Napier Enhanced Option Elementary School! We are excited that you’re interested in learning more about our school, a historic fixture in the heart of the Napier community.
As principal, I truly believe in being the change I want to see in the world. It is my pleasure and honor to serve as the instructional leader of the building and to work daily to make Napier feel like a home away from home for all who walk through our doors.
If I can help in any way, please contact me directly at 615-291-6400 ext. 655351 or at Watechia.Lawless@mnps.org.

Napier Enhanced Option Elementary serves Pre-K through 4th-grade students. Our faculty comprises highly qualified teachers who hail from different backgrounds but all share a love of teaching, learning and nurturing. Collectively, we encourage each student to discover what makes them special and love and accept them for being exactly who they are. We all work together to create a mutually respectful environment, provide challenging, student-centered lessons, and engage with community partners. Our vision is to inspire leaders, learners and high achievers. We realize that we can’t do this alone and are grateful for student support, plus our community and parent partners who help us every day.
Our students receive high-quality instruction in all core subjects (Math, English/Language, Science, and Social Studies) as well as art, music, technology, character development and physical education. We offer 1:1 technology and provide students with many opportunities to gain 21st-century skills through projects and independent practice.
Napier is an enhanced option school, so our students receive an additional 45 minutes of instruction each day (until 3:45 p.m.). This time is focused on targeted tutoring or specific core lessons.
Extracurricular activities at Napier include intramural sports and Girls on the Run, which teaches girls skills like goal-setting, personal fitness and positive self-esteem—all as they train together for a 5K race. In addition, after-school care is provided by both Harvest Hands Community Development Corporation (CDC) and KidPower by CrossBRIDGE, Inc. Our Family Resource Center supports our community families by helping them meet basic needs including food, clothing, educational and career support.
