Welcome to Meigs Academic Magnet School, where we’re dedicated to teaching the whole child through a rigorous—and nationally recognized—liberal arts curriculum.
I am so proud to be a part of this school, which was named a Blue Ribbon School in 2013 by the U.S. Department of Education. Our students and staff love to learn, work hard and support each other.

How to Enroll
Students who live in Davidson County and meet academic requirements may apply to Meigs through the Optional Schools Application. Students must score 85 or above average for the spring semester of last year and the first nine weeks of the qualifying school year with no failing grades. Also, current Metro students must have achievements test scores advanced or proficient in both math and reading and non-Metro students must have reading and math stanine scores on a norm-referenced achievement test equaling 14 or above (no rounding).
As a National Blue Ribbon School and Tennessee Reward School, Meigs Academic Magnet School provides a rigorous liberal arts curriculum that allows our capable learners to perform at high levels of academic and social development. We want all 700 of our students in grades 5-8 to become enthusiastic and successful lifelong learners, creative thinkers and responsible citizens in the global community.
Through diverse curriculum offerings, Meigs allows its students to explore their talents in traditional and non-traditional academics. In addition to our core academic offerings, the curriculum is enhanced with courses in foreign languages, including Latin, French and Spanish, and related studies, such as visual arts, computer, physical education, drama, band and strings.

A Typical Day at School
- 5th and 6th Grade: Three core classes at 70 minutes each, and two related studies classes at 45 minutes each.
- 7th Grade: Three core classes at 90 minutes each, and one related studies class at 50 minutes.
- 8th Grade: Four core classes at 65 minutes each, and one related studies class at 50 minutes.
