Welcome From the Principal
Greetings and welcome to Carter-Lawrence Math and Science Magnet Elementary School! I’m thrilled you’re here to learn more about our wonderful school, experienced staff and enriching programs, including our distinguished math and science magnet option.
We embrace every new school year like we do each day: with great enthusiasm and anticipation of new opportunities that can enhance our school community as a whole.
We encourage you to come for a visit and see for yourself how committed we are to our students. We’re certain you’ll find a vibrant and engaging community of teachers and learners that you and your family can’t wait to join.
Inquisitive, observant and collaborative help describe the typical student at Carter-Lawrence Math and Science Magnet. Our goal is to provide a challenging, stimulating, exciting and nurturing learning environment where students in grades pre-K through fourth can learn academic skills and develop socially and emotionally.
Our distinguished magnet option, which emphasizes math and science, features a fully operational science lab staffed full-time by a scientist from Vanderbilt University. We also have a fantastic school garden, maintained by students, staff and volunteers, where students can participate in exploratory lessons and research. Classes like Chinese, art, library and music help round out the offerings.
To accomplish our mission of raising the achievement of all, we have high expectations for our students. We want them to meet benchmarks, graduate from college and make their communities better. These are lofty goals and ones we believe can only be accomplished with support from our students’ families. We encourage parents to get involved, whether at our monthly family nights, special community partner-sponsored events or through direct involvement with the school and PTO.
