Welcome From the Principal

Principal

Welcome to Cambridge Early Learning Center, Nashville’s newest pre-K program catering to early learners in the Cane Ridge community. As principal, my goal is to make sure we give our pre-K students the best start academically and socially to prepare them for their elementary school experience. I also seek to engage our parents and families with the knowledge and skills they need to help and support their child at home and throughout their educational career.

Our school may be brand new, but we’re excited and eager to get students started on a path to success. We are striving to be the best early learning center in Nashville and the MODEL pre-K center in Tennessee. Together, we can achieve this and more.

School Description

Diverse, innovative, quality, fun, exploratory. These are just a few words that can describe the learning environment at Cambridge Early Learning Center, Nashville’s newest pre-k program. Located in the former Southeast Branch of the Nashville Public Library, our brand-new school offers a warm and welcoming environment for families.

At Cambridge, we use Creative Curriculum, a research-based preschool curriculum that uses exploration and discovery as a way of learning. Our curriculum teaches more than ABCs and 123s; it also includes building confidence, creativity and lifelong critical thinking skills. Our program also incorporates Social Emotional Learning, an area of development that will build the self-esteem that will support and encourage the student throughout their academic career and beyond.

In addition to our comprehensive curriculum that helps develop the whole child, Cambridge also boasts a number of extracurricular programs that your child is sure to enjoy. Plant the Seed provides trained garden facilitators to work with children and their teachers in small groups so that each child has weekly garden time. As part of Plant the Seed, children also help harvest—and eat—the fruits and vegetables we grow. Global Education, meanwhile, is a music program that uses the arts of diverse cultures to foster awareness, understanding and acceptance.

A Typical Day at School

While the schedule will vary from one classroom to the next, the daily experiences will be very similar. It is important to note that every moment of the day is carefully planned and set up to provide a learning opportunity for each student.

You can expect your student to spend the majority of the day in small groups, as that is most developmentally appropriate for young children. This also provides the teacher the time to observe, assess and give individualized attention to each student every day.

The classroom is set up into Learning Centers, each with a focus on a different area of development. These include, but are not limited to, Dramatic Play, Writing and Blocks. Learning Centers provide a great opportunity to see children learning through play (which is how children learn!)

Outdoor learning is a priority with young children and will be part of their regular experiences. The inquiry and exploration that occurs outdoors helps achieve growth socially and academically, while also helping the child connect with nature.
