Welcome to Andrew Jackson Elementary School, home of the soaring Eagles! The gifts and talents of our students combined with the dedication and passion of our teachers allow us to strive for excellence. We continue to work hard to ensure that Andrew Jackson Elementary School will be recognized as a school that sets our students and teachers up for success.

Find any successful school and you will also find parents and community members who are involved and supportive. This community recognizes the value of educational and extracurricular activities. Therefore, our school expects our students to excel both inside and outside of the classroom. I hope you are proud of our students as they reflect these expectations through their character and commitment. Your support is greatly appreciated. Together, let’s watch our Eagles SOAR!

Pathways

School Description

Andrew Jackson Elementary is a community-based school within the McGavock cluster. Our Pre-K - 4 curriculum includes Reading, English and Language Arts, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Physical Education and Library and Information Sciences. We have more than 50 computers and 47 iPads, and each is used to carry out the digital aspects of our blended learning programs.

Our advanced academic offerings include Encore, which supports our gifted students. The balanced literacy approach within our core curriculum provides students with daily opportunities to engage in various research-based reading and writing activities to help them communicate more effectively. This complements our Accelerated Reader program (AR), which is a school-wide initiative that encourages students to read every day. Students check out books within their individual reading levels then take tests on the computer to check comprehension and earn rewards.

Our 4th-grade students have the opportunity to participate in our Ambassador program. Selected by teachers, administrators and staff, our Ambassadors demonstrate good citizenship in the classroom and around the school, acting as positive role models to their fellow peers and younger students.

One of our favorite events is the annual Eagle Run, a fun-filled day when our community comes together to support our school. Students collect pledges or donations for each lap they run around our car rider circle. The money collected is used by our PTO to fund important school projects.
